Whether you like using Bluetooth or a wireless receiver dongle, Logitech offers two ways to connect your keyboard to your Mac. I'll explain both of these methods in this article. I'll also give you some tips to help you if you have any problems with the connection.

Logitech Wireless Keyboard

1. Using Bluetooth: 

Many Logitech wireless keyboards use Bluetooth to connect without wires. Turn on Bluetooth on your keyboard, then do the same on your Mac. They'll connect together.


2. Using the Dongle:

 Some Logitech keyboards come with a special USB piece called a dongle. Turn on the keyboard and plug the dongle into your Mac's USB slot. The keyboard will connect to your Mac all by itself.


Method 1: Pairing the Keyboard via Bluetooth Connection

1. Activate Bluetooth on the Keyboard


To establish a Bluetooth connection with your keyboard, turn it on and enable Bluetooth by either pressing the Bluetooth key or toggling the Bluetooth switch located on the side of the keyboard. If your wireless Logitech keyboard offers triple connectivity options, switch it to Bluetooth mode.

Logitech keyboards usually include three Easy-Switch keys, typically located on the F1, F2, and F3 keys. These keys can remember one paired device each, making it convenient to connect the keyboard to different devices.

Select your preferred key for the connection by simultaneously pressing the Fn key and one of the F1, F2, or F3 keys.

Keep an eye on the LED indicator above or next to your chosen Easy-Switch key; it should start blinking, indicating that the keyboard is now in pairing mode.

2. Enable Bluetooth on Your Mac


Navigate to the Apple Menu and click on System Preferences. Switch on Bluetooth and ensure that your Mac is set to be discoverable by other devices.

3. Pair the Keyboard with Your Mac


In your Mac's Bluetooth Settings, you'll find a list of Available Devices. Locate your Logitech wireless keyboard and establish a connection with it.

A Keyboard Setup Assistant window will appear on your screen. Click Continue and follow the step-by-step instructions on the screen to complete the pairing process. You may be prompted to enter a code displayed on your screen using the keyboard, so go ahead and type it in, then press Enter.

Once the pairing is successful, the LED indicator on the keyboard will stop blinking.

Method 2: How to Connect the Keyboard Using a Wireless Receiver


Some Logitech wireless keyboards use a USB receiver instead of Bluetooth. These keyboards are simple to set up because you just need to plug them in.

1. Change the Keyboard's Connection to the Receiver


If your Logitech keyboard has different ways to connect, follow this step. If your keyboard only connects with a receiver, you can skip this.

Find the switch or button on your Logitech keyboard that lets you change the way it connects. Switch it to "Wireless Receiver."

2. Plug the Receiver Dongle into Your Mac


Put the receiver dongle into a USB port on your Mac.

You might see a pop-up called the Keyboard Setup Assistant on your screen. Follow the instructions on the screen to connect your Logitech keyboard to your Mac.

Fixing Problems with Your Wireless Keyboard


If your Logitech keyboard still doesn't connect after trying the steps mentioned earlier, there are some easy things you can try to make it work again.

Verify if the Keyboard is Powered Up.


Of course, your keyboard must be switched on for it to function properly.

Wireless keyboards typically have LED lights that go dark once they're connected to a device. This can cause confusion for some people, as they might think the keyboard is still connected when it's actually turned off. Be sure to verify if the power switch on your Logitech keyboard is in the "on" position.

Ensure the Keyboard Has Sufficient Battery


Wireless keyboards might not work with your device or may not perform well if the batteries are almost empty.

To see how much battery is left in your keyboard, follow these steps on your Mac:
  • 1. Go to System Preferences.
  • 2. Click on Bluetooth.
  • 3. Look for your Logitech keyboard in the list of devices. You'll find the battery life displayed next to the keyboard's name.

Some keyboards come with a small light that shows the battery status. If you see a red blinking light, it usually means the battery is running out.

If your keyboard's battery is low, you should either recharge it or put in new batteries.

Ensure the Keyboard is Set to the Correct Connection Mode


If you're trying to link your keyboard through Bluetooth when it's set to wireless receiver mode, or the other way around, your keyboard won't connect.

Make sure your keyboard is in the correct mode for the type of connection you want. Change it to the mode you want and then attempt to connect it once more.

Resetting Your Keyboard to Factory Settings


If none of the solutions mentioned earlier help, you can try resetting your Logitech keyboard to its default settings.

Resetting your Logitech keyboard can solve various problems, such as issues with connecting to devices or keys not working correctly. However, please be aware that performing a factory reset will erase any saved device connections and customized key settings.

Typically, you can reset your Logitech keyboard by following these steps:

  • 1. Unplug the keyboard from your device.
  • 2. Press the ESC + O keys twice.
  • 3. Then, press the ESC + B keys.

If the factory reset is successful, the LED lights on your keyboard will start to flash.

Keep in mind that some Logitech keyboards might have different key combinations for a factory reset. If the above steps don't work for your keyboard, refer to the manual that came with your keyboard for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
